Alison Sortwell

Alison is a Business Psychologist with 15 years’ experience in the field of talent and people. She began her career in HR and in-house talent acquisition. She moved into consultancy 10 years ago where she gained considerable experience designing and delivering assessment and development solutions at all levels in public sector and commercial organisations. She is fascinated by the intellectual challenge of working with people and is passionate about harnessing potential to support organisational performance and individual career success.

As a Principal Consultant at GS, Alison leads many large-scale complex projects, often with high profile or highly scrutinised organisations and roles. Her approach involves building strong relationships and deep understanding of the culture and needs of the organisations she works with to provide high quality evidence-based solutions. Alison is adaptive and responsive to her clients’ needs. Her experience spans the Public Sector (Central and Local Government, Housing, Health, Education, Regulation and the Not-for-Profit sectors) and Private Sector (including commercial, retail, telecoms and financial organisations).

Alison is responsible for conducting in-depth individual leadership assessments to inform recruitment decisions or to support development. In addition, she plays a key role in providing on-boarding support to leaders, including psychometric feedback, maximising team performance and 360 feedback.

Not only do we benefit from Alison’s wealth of C-suite executive profiling experience; but also her experience and expertise in the design and delivery of assessment centres for recruitment and re-structures, development centres, high potential programmes, 360 feedback, developing competency frameworks, executive coaching and leadership development, for UK public sector and global commercial organisations.

Alison holds an MSc in Occupational Psychology and an Advanced Diploma in Human Resource Management. She is a Chartered member of the CIPD and Graduate member of the BPS and a member of the Division of Occupational Psychology and the Association for Business Psychology. She is a qualified test user registered on the RQTU, qualified in Wave, Hogan Suite, OPQ, NEO-PI-R, LJI and the Real-World Group 360.

Outside of work, she enjoys running and spending time with her young family.

A significant portion of her Alison’s career was with the Royal Household as an HR Business Partner at Buckingham Palace.
