The National Football Museum (NFM) has resided proudly in Manchester for over a decade. During this time, the museum has welcomed over 2.5 million visitors from across the globe with a simple mission; to share stories about football.

The NFM is the custodian of the world’s largest collection of football objects and archives. Our exhibitions programme enables us to showcase the collection through impactful storytelling, and by exploring cultural and creative themes that truly represent the role of football in society and our lives. We are about to embark on a new chapter for the NFM as we launch the 2030 Strategy to transform the galleries of the museum and the activities we deliver there and through our outreach.

To do this we are seeking an experienced and dynamic Operations and Visitor Experience Director who will manage the running and development of our visitor attraction and lead the people who welcome and engage our visitors, to deliver a world-class visitor experience.

This year we have seen record numbers visit us in Manchester and this will only grow as we rebuild our galleries and install the latest technologies and activity spaces to showcase our collections.

If you want to join us to combine football and creativity at one of the leading cultural venues in Manchester we would love to meet you.

As an Arts Council National Portfolio Organisation (NPO), we are committed to ensuring our services and resources are accessible to all. Our community programme connects our audiences, and provides an inclusive and welcoming experience, breaking down barriers and increasing engagement from underrepresented groups. We positively encourage applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates regardless of gender, race, age, sexual orientation, belief, disability, or socioeconomic background.
