About Us: We are establishing a Devon and Torbay Combined County Authority (CCA) to make a real difference to people’s lives – tackling challenges as well as providing Devon and Torbay with a stronger voice to influence policy for the benefit of our residents, communities, and businesses. Whilst the CCA is not yet established and is subject to Government legislation, the Devon and Torbay partners are standing up a set of shadow arrangements.  This is a chance to be at the forefront of the creation and mobilisation of one of the first Combined County Authorities in the country.

Role Overview: As the Director of Operations, you will play a pivotal role in leading the operation of our future Devon and Torbay Combined County Authority. Supporting the Chief Executive, you will lead and direct a range of functions supporting the economic prosperity of Devon and Torbay.

Your responsibilities will include setting direction and strategic priorities. You will work closely with local authorities, stakeholders, and partners to drive positive change and deliver on our ambitious goals.  This is very much the first step on our devolution journey – we want to make the most of the opportunities from the emerging English Devolution Bill.

These are the benefits

Aside from the sense of satisfaction and pride from supporting the community of Devon and Torbay and a fulfilling and rewarding day job, we offer an attractive package of benefits, including:

  • up to 34 days annual leave
  • time off for bank holidays and public holidays
  • competitive pay
  • excellent local government pension scheme
  • flexible working opportunities
  • personal and professional learning and development opportunities

Wellness is a key focus for Devon and Torbay and our flexible working policy will enable you to maintain a positive work-life balance. We have systems in place to make sure, as a Devon County Council employee, there are options available to keep healthy.

Above all, you will be supported by a team and colleagues from across the CCA’s partner organisations with a wealth of knowledge and experience to help, support and challenge you to be your best.

As a place to live and work, the county of Devon is hard to beat with top-performing schools, universities, vibrant cities, pretty villages and some of the most scenic coast and countryside in the UK. Living and working here has never been more attractive. Click here to find out more.
