Wandle was formed in 1967 by a group of local people who were concerned about homelessness. They had a simple aim: ‘To provide homes for homeless families, regardless of colour, language, race, or creed.’ Nearly 60 years on, we face the greatest housing crisis since the end of the Second World War and Wandle is doing its bit to build the homes south Londoners need.

We have grown into an organisation with over 7,000 homes across nine south London boroughs providing homes for rent (social and affordable), shared ownership, outright sale and supported housing. Our purpose is to support people across south London who need a home. We want to be a good landlord and contribute to building strong communities in south London and deliver against our vision ‘Homes to be proud of and services you can trust’.

Our customers are at the heart of our corporate strategy. Part of our strategic plan is to build new homes and successful communities and make significant investment in our technology platforms to become a data driven, modern minded business. To help us achieve these objectives we are looking for two new Board Members who will bring senior level experience to contribute to broader Board decisions. Our new members will be an integral part of our group board, embodying a people and customer-focused leadership approach to enable Wandle to deliver a people and customer first culture.

We are seeking skills in residential development experience from either the private or public sector. This Board Member will bring a regulatory understanding of building safety in the context of residential development and will play a crucial role in our development plan to build high quality, genuinely affordable homes. In addition, we want to attract an experienced C-suite leader with a background in data, IT and digital experience, bringing expertise from a medium sized consumer-facing businesses, where IT is integral to end-to-end service delivery.

Our organisation, and the sector as a whole, is facing challenges such as increased costs, commitments to the environment and expectations of housing associations that have increased considerably. Our new Board Members will be joining a strong business and will lead us through our next period of growth as we aim to provide excellent services to customers and affordable, quality homes for those in housing need.
