To support our vision, we are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Governance and Corporate Services with proven Monitoring Officer expertise. This role is crucial for strengthening our democratic decision-making processes and advancing our ambitious change agenda.

As a key member of the Corporate Leadership Team, you will work closely with the Chief Executive and the Director of Resources (Section 151). Your responsibilities will include providing strategic and operational leadership across various service areas, including legal, democratic, electoral, communications, customer services, transformation, data protection, and ICT contracts. You will ensure that our governance framework supports the effective and compliant delivery of Council services throughout the district.

In addition, you will take a lead in delivering our transformation program, optimising resource use and modernising customer engagement processes across the Council. We are looking for someone with a successful track record in both strategic and operational roles within complex stakeholder environment, along with strong Monitoring Officer experience. Your ability to provide expert governance advice and lead our Governance and Corporate Services directorate effectively will be essential.

Excellent communication skills are vital, as you will promote the highest standards of practice and conduct throughout the Council. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact in a high performing council.
