mhs homes is a high-performing community focused housing provider, delivering safe, secure and affordable homes as a stepping stone to a better future. We believe everyone needs a decent home. The mhs homes group has been created to provide affordable homes to the people who need them most and we are passionate about investing in our communities

mhs homes Ltd was set up in 1990 and became a registered charity in 2017.  We own and manage over 10,000 homes in North Kent. This makes us the largest independent social landlord in the UK.

Heart of Medway is a subsidiary of mhs homes. It is an ambitious and growing housing association making a big impact. We're registered with the social housing regulator with 1,200 homes. Our ultimate ambition is 'to help end the housing crisis in North Kent, by providing affordable rented homes, shared ownership homes and supported foyer accommodation for young people. Heart of Medway’s services are delivered by mhs homes, and the board plays a critical role in making sure Heart of Medway provides excellent customer service and community value.

We are now looking to appoint a new Chair for the Heart of Medway Board; you will also sit on the Group Board of mhs homes. This is a key role on both boards ensuring that the mhs homes group delivers the best services and outcomes for our customers and communities. We are seeking an experienced housing professional. You do not need to have previous chairing experience but the ability to engage and constructively challenge with positive outcomes is vital. Customers are at the heart of our business. Our new board member needs to be an excellent communicator with people across the mhs group and with our communities, enabling valuable discussion and input from our various engaged customers and wider community groups. Whilst you don’t need to live in Kent, the role of Chair of Heart of Medway and mhs homes group board member is an ambassadorial role, and we are seeking individuals with a passion for customers, people and place.

We are committed to retaining a diverse board, reflective of the communities we serve, comprised of people who bring a broad mix of different skills and perspectives. We are keen to attract applicants from the broadest possible range of backgrounds.
