As a wholly owned subsidiary of the NDA and a major constituent of the NDA group, Nuclear Waste Services (NWS) are specialists in the treatment and disposal of nuclear waste and offer a full range of skills and solutions across preparation and planning, treatment and packaging, and disposal. Created in January 2022, NWS brought together the expertise of LLW Repository Ltd, Radioactive Waste Management Ltd, and the NDA group’s Integrated Waste Management Programme.

Our reputation and brand are essential for us to be trusted to make radioactive waste permanently safe sooner, and to enable us to attract the best talent across multiple industries. Our reach is bigger than the UK, we collaborate, learn, and share internationally – especially for our goal to create a geological disposal facility, a first for the UK.  It means our presence and influence with government, academics, the media, local communities, industry, and our colleagues are an essential part of our journey and future success.

As Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Director, you will own the development and deployment of strategies that showcase, develop and protect the reputation of the NWS, enabling us to realise the benefits of our ambitious mission. Reporting to the Corporate Services Director, you will be a key member of the NWS Corporate Services Leadership team and contribute to the wider leadership community in the organisation.

We are seeking a dynamic individual, with a track record of leading highly successful strategic communication and engagement strategies, in an environment of similar complexity. You will be skilled at establishing and sustaining effective partnerships and influential relationships, and be able to analyse and quickly understand complex issues, requiring sound judgement. Most of all you share our commitment to promote and live the values of the organisation.

This is a hugely exciting, challenging and rewarding position in which decisions over the coming years can carry weight for the next generation and beyond.
