Are you a visionary leader with a passion for operational excellence and a proven track record of success? We are looking for an exceptional Operations Director to join our company board and leadership team. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of a vital organisation, leading the delivery of essential services that impact the lives of thousands in North Somerset.

As Operations Director, you will take responsibility for nearly 300 colleagues across six sites and three core contracts. Your role will be pivotal in driving safe, profitable, and compliant operations while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team, coaching and empowering them to deliver outstanding results and develop their full potential. You will play a key role in shaping the company's strategic direction, contributing to long-term goals and ensuring operational excellence aligns with environmental improvement objectives.

You’ll take a leading role in the development and implementation of the company’s five-year business plan, so commercial acumen and income generation experience is critical. You will have the ability to analyse market trends and make data-driven decisions that drive business growth, engaging your teams in the business plans objectives, identifying niches and enabling opportunities.

As an executive board member, you will act as a trusted advisor to the Company Board, collaborating on the delivery of financial, performance, and corporate governance plans. Your leadership will extend beyond the operational sphere as you build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, from clients and partners to regulatory bodies. With a focus on resilience, you will ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery while identifying opportunities for growth and sustainable income generation. Your expertise will help the organisation navigate a dynamic landscape, meeting challenges head-on and seizing opportunities for innovation and development.

To succeed, you will bring extensive experience in senior operational roles within sectors such as logistics, waste, or highways. Your leadership credentials will be complemented by strong financial acumen, an ability to manage complex budgets, and a talent for driving teams to achieve and exceed performance targets. You will be an excellent communicator, adept at engaging with diverse audiences and fostering collaboration across all levels of the business. Your knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation will underpin your commitment to maintaining a ‘zero-harm’ culture, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all colleagues.

This role offers the chance to make a real impact, not only within the organisation but also across the wider community. If you are a results-driven leader with a passion for innovation and excellence, we invite you to apply and help shape the future of our business in North Somerset.
