At the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman (LGSCO), we offer a free nationwide service to help individuals resolve unresolved complaints. We deliver final decisions on issues related to council services and care providers. Acting independently and impartially, we work to address injustice and inequality by holding organisations accountable and rectifying individual grievances. Our unique position allows us to identify and respond to recurring issues, often driving systemic change that improves both organisations and the experiences of those who interact with them.

As Chief Executive, you will lead the strategic direction of the LGSCO, ensuring it aligns with the organisation's goals and priorities. Serving as the Accounting Officer, you will manage governance, risk, and performance frameworks to support sound decision-making and uphold high standards of integrity. In this dynamic role, you will lead the Executive Team to deliver an effective, efficient, and high-performing service that inspires public trust and confidence.

You will oversee organisational operations, driving efficiency, shaping strategic policies, and advising on emerging trends that influence public service delivery. Acting as the primary representative of LGSCO, you will engage with stakeholders, including government bodies, to shape policy, forge strategic partnerships, and elevate the organisation's impact.

We are looking for a proven leader with experience in public service delivery, a strong understanding of governance and accountability, and the ability to navigate the complexities of strategic and operational leadership. You should be an excellent communicator, skilled at engaging with diverse stakeholders, influencing policy discussions, and anticipating changes in the political landscape to position the LGSCO for success.  A commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion is essential, as you will uphold these principles across the organisation.
