With a rich and important heritage, our purpose is to support the rule of law and the administration of justice; support the effectiveness of the bar of England and Wales through education, scholarships, call to the Bar, library and other services; and manage, use and enhance our historic estate in the heart of London for the benefit of members, tenants, residents, external customers and the wider public.

We play a significant role in the professional development and support of students and practising barristers; provide generous scholarships for those who need financial help to study for the Bar; and work to increase diversity of the profession.  We provide a strong sense of community and place and our member relationships are lifelong.

The role of Under Treasurer is of huge importance to the sustainability and successful operation of Lincoln’s Inn. Over and above the responsibilities of a Chief Executive, they are a custodian of the Inn; a highly visible leader and constant presence operating at the heart of our community.  The Under Treasurer also plays a collective leadership role in the four Inns of Court and acts as a trustee of the Council of the Inns of Court educational charity.

The role calls for a considerate and respectful leader who can operate at all levels, pivoting between a broad range of roles and responsibilities, and thriving in an expert led environment which has particularly complex governance.

We are looking for a well-rounded inclusive leader who has a genuine interest in our members, our tenants and our profession. With a contemporary skill set and values, you will operate with agility, able to maintain our relevance and sustainability for future generations of barristers, whilst respecting and protecting our heritage. Whilst we are particularly interested in individuals with exposure to stakeholder-led environments and/or the legal system, we are open minded regarding your background, and equally interested in talking to leaders with fresh perspective.

This is a highly visible role that will require a leader who is able and willing to serve an important and learned profession. If it sounds like the role for you, we look forward to hearing from you.
