Join award-winning Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust as our Chief Estates Officer!

Are you ready to make a real impact? Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust is looking for an exceptional Chief Estates Officer to drive our ambitious agenda on transformation, sustainability and operational excellence.  As a member of our high-performing Board, reporting directly to the Chief Executive, you will play a key part in delivering our ambitious Oxleas 2024 – 2027 strategy, leading a broad portfolio across estates and facilities, health and safety, emergency planning and sustainability.  This is a unique opportunity to shape the physical infrastructure that underpins the delivery of outstanding patient care.

Known for the distinctive high quality of our services and our values-driven culture, Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust was recognised as the HSJ Trust of the Year and as a Sunday Times Best Place to Work in 2023. Oxleas serves a diverse community, offering mental health, learning disability, community physical health and offender healthcare services across outer SE London and, for our offender healthcare services, Kent, South-West England and London. With an annual income of approximately £500m and c5000 staff, our overall Trust CQC rating is ‘good’, and our forensic mental health service is rated ‘outstanding’.

We are a Trust that embraces diversity and inclusion, with an award-winning Shadow Executive and successful programmes that are delivering significant improvements in terms of representation and inclusion.   This is a stimulating time to be joining the Trust with refreshed strategic priorities to shape the Oxleas’ future for our patients and continuing to make it one of the best places to work for our staff. With a focus on innovation and excellence, we pride ourselves on our commitment to improving the lives of the individuals and communities we serve.

Your responsibilities will include developing and delivering the Trust’s estates strategy, ensuring alignment with clinical and operational priorities. You will lead on the planning, development, and maintenance of the Trust’s broad and varied property portfolio, ensuring compliance with all statutory and regulatory standards. Driving innovation in sustainability and energy efficiency, you will champion the Trust’s green agenda. Overseeing capital projects, from conception through to delivery, you will ensure they are completed on time and within budget. You will provide expert advice to the Board on estates and facilities matters, health and safety, and emergency planning.  You will build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, including NHS partners, local authorities, and community organisations.

For this pivotal role, we are seeking an exceptional leader with a proven track record in estates and facilities management, ideally within a healthcare or similarly complex environment. You will have significant experience of leading capital projects and delivering strategic transformation. A strong understanding of sustainability practices and their application in an estates context is essential. You will also possess excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills. A commitment to the values and ethos of Oxleas and the NHS, with a focus on delivering for patients and communities, is vital.

Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust is committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion. We welcome applications from all sections of the community and support flexible working practices.

If you are a dynamic and visionary leader ready to make a real impact, we want to hear from you.
