We are looking to recruit to this critical post in our Economy and Environment Directorate to help us do just that.

You will manage a range of commercial activities on behalf of the council, including the management of our corporate property assets, our commercialised services, and the management of third party service contracts. You will also develop, lead and deliver a council wide commercial strategy ensuring the best services, at the best price that maximises income. We are open to candidates from a variety of backgrounds across public and private sectors. Above all, we are interested in your ability to drive successful commercial outcomes for the people or Herefordshire.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

• An experienced senior manager with a track record of delivering top quality public services and continuous improvement.

• A technical background with experience of designing services that meet the needs of customers.

• An ability to translate corporate strategy into service delivery by generating clarity for others through leadership, organisational development and change management.

• Experience of developing policies and frameworks that are customer-orientated and cost-conscious.

• A leader who engages and enables others to deliver their best.

• Knowledge of commissioning-based service models and their application in a public service context.

• Ability to build partnership relationships and influence government policy, including an exceptional awareness of organisational politics.

• An excellent professional, technical and developmental record that is public service focused, including relevant advanced theoretical & practical knowledge acquired through qualification to Qualifications & Curriculum Framework Level 8 for specialist knowledge and Level 7 for managerial knowledge or equivalent experience for both.
