Community Pharmacy England is the national representative body for owners of community pharmacies in England – from the largest multiple to the smallest independent pharmacy. We are recognised by the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care as the body which negotiates the NHS community pharmacy contractual framework (CPCF) for the sector.

But our work extends far beyond this. We make representations and input to health policy on, or relating to, remuneration for pharmacy services, reimbursement of medicines supplied, new or proposed pharmacy clinical services, and the associated regulatory framework.

As our new Independent Chair, you will join at a time of significant challenge and opportunity, when we’ll be establishing with government and the NHS a new plan for community pharmacy in line with the NHS 10-year Health Plan. This will require us to bed in robust relationships of trust with Ministers and health care leaders, ensure effective engagement with, and accountability to business owners and the community pharmacy sector, and strengthen the national, regional and local community pharmacy infrastructure in line with NHS decentralisation. All whilst continuing to improve our governance framework and responding to new policy challenges.

An experienced Chair accustomed to leading boards and committees in complex governance settings and systems, you will being a strong non-executive skill set, with experience of leading high performing boards elsewhere to achieve important outcomes for multiple parties.

With prior exposure to public sector funding and the UK’s healthcare landscape, you will be politically and commercially savvy, able to build relationships at the highest levels whilst ensuring that disparate voices are heard and collective decisions that support the community pharmacy sector are reached.

We must appoint an Independent Chair of the utmost integrity. Politically and commercially savvy, you must be credible, influential, and moderate with outstanding leadership and ED&I credentials.

This is an exciting and important time to join us. If our mission resonates, and you think your experience and qualities can help accelerate our progress, we look forward to hearing from you.
