WE ARE NEWHAM.

Newham is a borough of rich cultural diversity, transformative growth, and immense potential. As one of London’s most dynamic boroughs, we are committed to improving the quality of life for our residents through innovative, forward-thinking strategies in adult and health services. In this time of challenge, we are seeking a visionary leader with the courage, resilience, and determination to help shape our future. This role is an opportunity to drive the delivery of integrated, person-centred care that supports our residents and strengthens our communities. With bold leadership, you will play a key part in guiding Newham through this transformative period, delivering meaningful change and making a lasting impact.

Corporate Director – Adults & Health | Competitive Salary

As the Corporate Director for Adults and Health, you will lead and directly manage a portfolio of services including professional practice; adult social care and safeguarding; integrated support shared with children and young people services; commissioning of health and social care and the integrated care system with North East London ICB; and public health. You will work collaboratively across the Council and system to tackle health inequalities, improve health outcomes, and support our residents in living their best lives.

This is a critical role for our organisation. You will be our statutory Director of Adult Social Services and be the designated Caldicott Guardian. Working with the North East London ICB, NELFT, Barts Health NHS, and other NHS providers, you will lead and manage the Council’s Adults and Health directorate to deliver the best possible adult social care and health provision for the borough, and our residents who need our support the most.

You will manage a shared integrated support function for Adult Social Care, Health, and Children & Young People’s social care and commissioning, ensuring that good practice, value for money, and operational synergies are maximised for the benefit of service users. You will ensure that adult safeguarding is an organisational priority and support the Public Health function and its statutory director, ensuring that services directly commissioned are targeted at the public health needs of Newham.

In this role, we will look to you to develop and embed a strong culture of practice with a relentless focus on improving outcomes and the lives of those we serve. You will modernise and transform our services to prioritise prevention and early intervention. This is your chance to balance strategic vision with operational excellence to make Newham a borough like no other.

About You

We are looking for an inspiring leader to transform lives and deliver innovative adult social care and health services. With a deep understanding of complex systems and the ability to develop strong partnerships, you will champion person-centred care that improves outcomes for Newham’s diverse communities. This is your chance to make a lasting impact in one of London’s most vibrant boroughs, driving change that matters and shaping brighter futures for our residents.
