Together we are turning houses into homes, growing and building stronger communities and making a positive difference to people’s lives.

Cottsway is a highly successful, independent housing association group operating in Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, and Worcestershire. Formed in 2001, we manage approximately 5,800 homes for general needs rent and affordable home ownership, supported by a robust development pipeline and partnerships with Homes England and Local Authorities. Our current Chair stands down in 2026 and we are looking for a Chair-Elect to ensure a smooth transition and lead us in the next stage of developing thriving communities where people are proud to live.

We are in a strong, robust financial position, with top regulatory ratings for governance and viability from the Regulator of Social Housing and we aspire to achieve the same for customer service when assessed. Highly valued and trusted by our customers and stakeholders, we have a 2023-2028 corporate plan which focusses on People, Homes and Business Strength, to ensure Cottsway continues to make a positive difference to the people we serve.

It is a great time to join Cottsway and we want our new Chair to lead and inspire us to deliver on the opportunities in our communities. We want someone who will embrace our values and ensure we remain collaborative and inclusive as an organisation. Though previous group chairing experience is not an essential requirement, you will have experience at committee chair level and bring skills in managing discussion and getting the best out of your teams.

You will bring a new perspective to facilitate our continued growth and development aspirations. Whilst you might not be a housing professional, you will have a healthy appreciation for regulation and governance, as well as a passion for customer centric services and true customer engagement. You’ll be a leader who supports, engages, and challenges, looking for an opportunity where you can genuinely make a difference.

We wish to encourage people with the broadest possible range of backgrounds and perspectives to express an interest in this role. Lived experience of the services we provide, whether personally or through your work, is always valued.
