The FCA is currently on an exciting journey as we drive forward significant organisational, people, process and technology transformation to become a more forward-thinking, proactive regulator. Risk & Compliance Oversight (R&CO) is the FCA’s second line of defence and this Division works in partnership with Senior Management, members of the Board and colleagues across the organisation, providing challenge and insight to successfully manage internal and external risks to enable the delivery of the FCA’s strategy and business plan and its statutory and operational objectives.

Reporting into the Director of Risk, Compliance and Data Privacy, the Head of Compliance and Data Protection Officer will be responsible for leading the FCA’s Compliance and Data Privacy Department and will hold the position of Data Protection Officer (DPO) for the FCA. The DPO is a legislative requirement under the GDPR, and the role holder is responsible for a number of statutory functions. This is a high profile and diverse role where you will lead the strategic direction of a critical function in changing times and be at the centre of many developments at the FCA.

We welcome interest from candidates with a strong appreciation of the outcomes that data protection legislation seeks to secure and a track record of successfully and credibly commanding risk events. Your deep knowledge of the GDPR and direct experience of managing data protection issues and matters will be critical in this senior DPO role and you will know where, when and how practical solutions need to be found to data privacy challenges. Successful candidates will also demonstrate significant experience of managing and influencing key stakeholder relationships, including senior decision makers internally and externally.

Your inspirational leadership behaviours and strong personal values will align with those of the FCA, together with an unwavering commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, all of which underpin the skills and attributes needed for this role.

We are open to considering flexible working arrangements, including job shares.

As part of the disability confident scheme, the FCA guarantees to interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria.
